About College
Government Degree College Dharampur, District Solan was established in the year 2014 to enhance the sphere of higher education in the area of Dharampur of District Solan. It is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University Shimla and is imparting education at the undergraduate level in two streams viz. Arts & Commerce. It provides a very conducive environment for learning. The college has brought higher education to the doorsteps of every household in the vicinity.
Since its inception in June 2014, from the premises of Block Elementary Education Office, Dharampur, District Solan, the college has been providing quality education to the students of this rural area. The number of students has risen from merely 15 in the first batch in 2014 to approximately 500 in 2020. The government has allotted about 40 bighas of land at village Mandodhar for the construction of the new building of the college and presently the construction work is being carried out at the approved site which is located in lush green Kasauli Hills.
This co-educational college has a well-qualified, experienced and committed team of teachers who untiringly provide education in the subjects of English, Hindi, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History, Music, Mathematics and Commerce. Our teachers strive relentlessly to bring the best out of students.
The motto of the college is ‘Svadhyaynama pramadh’- Never disregard svadhyaya. Svadhyaya is a regular daily intake of mind transforming, illuminating and awakening new ideas through the study of scriptures. Ignorance is dispelled by it, and knowledge is brought about by constant study. Keeping this in mind the students are motivated to expand the horizons of their knowledge and skills by dreaming big and working hard, taking advantage of a learning-friendly milieu by involving them in co-curricular activities and thereby achieving their goals.
