GUIDELINES FOR GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE

(As per the notification of the UGC Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)

Objective: To provide a mechanism for students of the college to air out their grievances and to provide redressal for the same so that they have smooth tenure at the college from the day of admission to their graduation.

Definition: “Aggrieved student” means a student who has any complaint in the matters concerned with the grievances defined under these guidelines, and includes a person seeking admission to the college.

“Grievances”: Grievances include the following complaints of the aggrieved students, namely :

  • making admission contrary to merit determined by the declared admission policy of the college
  • irregularity in the admission process adopted by the institute
  • refusing admission by the declared admission policy of the college
  • Non-publication of the prospectus
  • publishing any information in the prospectus, which is false or misleading, and not based on facts
  • withhold or refuse to return any document in the form of certificates of degree or any other award or other document deposited with it by a person seek admission in the college, to induce or compel such person to pay any fee or fees in respect of any course or program of study which such person does not intend to pursue
  • the demand of money over that specified in the declared admission policy or approved by the competent authority to be charged by the college
  • breach of the policy for reservation in admission as may be applicable
  • complaints, of alleged discrimination of students, from the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Women, Minority or Disabled categories
  • nonpayment or delay in payment of scholarships to any student to the college is committed
  • delay in conduct of examinations or declaration of results beyond that specified in the academic calendar
  • non-provision of student amenities as may have been promised or required to be provided by the college
  • denial of quality education as promised at the time of admission or required to be provided
  • non-transparent or unfair evaluation practices
  • harassment and victimization of students, including sexual harassment

For this two committees are working :

Women Cell/Women’s Grievances & Redressal Cell

This cell has been constituted to achieve the objective of gender equality by making the girls aware of their rights and duties. Gender disparity manifests itself in various forms and the underlying causes for the discrimination are related to social and economic structure, which is based on informal and formal norms, and practices. The cell frequently organizes interactive sessions with students to get an insight into women-specific problems that need to be addressed on a priority basis for the emancipation of women.

The following activities were undertaken by the cell :

Health official Ms Sushma Sharma was invited as a Resource person for workshop on Health and hygiene for girl students.

College in collaboration with Amar Ujala organised the ‘Aprajita’ programme in which a quiz competition was held.

The college celebrated ‘Poshan Mah’ during which painting and declamation contests were held and Child Development programme officer Dharampur gave information about Balanced Diet to the students.

The college organized a Health Check-up camp with the help of Local health workers and Aanganwari workers. The haemoglobin, Blood pressure and sugar levels of the students were checked.

Dr. Amit, Block Medical Officer Dharampur gave a lecture to students on Non-communicable diseases and Drug Addiction.
